Many times in the local church, volunteer leaders are blessed with one or two instrumentalists to play during the offering.
Sometimes, it grows difficult to find instrumental pieces for a moment like this in worship. You find yourself looking for that last minute offertory for your instrumentalist. Here are some ideas for you:. Pedalpoint quarterly subscription LifeWay.

Other tenets of Baptist churches include soul competency libertysalvation through faith alone, Scripture alone as the rule of faith and practice, and the autonomy of the local congregation. Baptists recognize two ministerial offices, pastors and deacons. Baptist churches are widely considered to be Protestant churches, though some Baptists disavow this identity.
Diverse from their beginning, those identifying as Baptists today differ widely from one another in what they believe, how they worship, their attitudes toward other Christians, and their understanding of what is important in Christian discipleship. Historians trace the earliest church labeled "Baptist" back to in Amsterdam, with English Separatist John Smyth as its pastor. In accordance with his reading of the New Testament, he rejected baptism of infants and instituted baptism only of believing adults.
Baptist practice spread to England, where the General Baptists considered Christ's atonement to extend to all people, while the Particular Baptists believed that it extended only to the elect.
The Second Great Awakening in the South in the early 19th century increased church membership, as did the preachers' lessening of support for abolition and manumission of slavery, which had been part of the 18th-century teachings.
Baptist missionaries have spread their church to every continent. The Baptist World Alliance reports more than 41 million members in more thancongregations. Inthere were over million Baptists and Baptistic group members worldwide and over 33 million in North America.
The largest Baptist association is the Southern Baptist Convention, with the membership of associated churches totaling more than 16 million.

This particular piece goes to one of my older female students who enjoys playing songs in a minor key. The idea for the introduction hit me as I laid down to sleep this past Wednesday. I had to get up and write it down or the idea would have been history! The introduction sets the mood for this beautiful hymn tune by John Sweney. I love to hear my Dad sing this song too!
My Dad, Reece Yandle, wrote this vocal solo years ago and it remains one of my favorite vocal patriotic songs. People were always asking for a copy of the song so I wrote it out and published it a while back. Dad has written many songs! I need to publish more of them. I entered this patriotic piano arrangement in a contest sponsored by Sheet Music Plus and was surprised to hear I won first place in the sacred piano solo contest. I received special permission to create the written arrangement.
Not everyone has two pianos in their auditorium so hopefully this is helpful for both situations. I also attend a small church so shorter offertories work best.
While snowed in this week, I decided to write and finish a piano hymn arrangement in one day like I use to when I first started this website.
Grace Greater Than Our Sin has been on my mind a lot lately, so decided to try writing an arrangement and the thoughts just flowed for a change!"Beautiful & Uplifting Gospel Hymns -AlanJackson- with Instrumental Hymns".
I forgot all about accompanying my son and his wife to sing after the offertory. I was SO wrapped in the change of plans that I totally forgot them! After playing the offertory, I went out back to the restroom like normal and then to slip in quietly for the preaching portion. As I came out of the restroom my husband was waiting for me in the foyer with a concerned look on his face. I forgot all about them! I published an elementary piano solo of Nothing But the Blood of Jesus several years ago.
I also promised to provide the alternate second piano teacher or student piano accompaniment for FREE. Click this link…. I was looking for sacred trumpet solo arrangements for our Pastor to play during the offering. I found the following books on one of my favorite sites: Sheet Music Plus. LOVE that feature! I enjoy hearing our Pastor play his trumpet for offertory and glad to find books we would reasonably utilize! How to turn pages without disrupting the flow of music? In that case, I memorize a little more so I can turn the page at a more convenient spot.
Face it…you may just have to miss a few notes with the non-melody hand to make this happen. I should probably devote an article on copyright laws. If I have someone turn pages…I have them stand on my left side if at all possible…. The Church Pianist A help ministry for church pianists all over the world! O Come O Come Emmanuel.
This piece was also written for one of my early intermediate students. Great is Thy Faithfulness. In God We Trust. God Bless America. Pius X Hymnal might "Heart of Jesus" be appropriate? I think the overall text should be about preparing for the sacrifice and hopefully its impact on us, but any other suggestions from that resource would be appreciated, I am trying to nudge the MD toward more traditional sources of music that are easy for the choir to learn.
Any suggestions thanks. David Deavy. CorAnglais16 January Posts: There's a decent didactic offertory hymn by an "N. The language is rather straightforward and lacking in the aesthetic beauty one would find in an Edward Caswall text, but it is very much the sort of text for which you are searching. Marier's tune is upbeat and quite memorable—I find the harmonization to be a bit questionable in places but overall it's more musically competent than some of his other work.
I don't have a Pius X nearby, but given Marier edited it and HPSC includes a great deal of his previous work perhaps it's in there somewhere? Thanked by 1 David Deavy. My wife refused to sing Lord, accept CCooze January Posts: Thanked by 2 M.

Thank you.I have been visiting and consulting with churches and church leaders for over 25 years.
Do you know what that means? But it also means I have seen a lot of what takes place in congregations in a variety of settings. Because of the number of times I have been in different churches, I can come pretty close to determining how healthy the financial stewardship of a congregation is just by listening and watching the time of offertory in a worship service.
In most churches, that time has little meaning. Some people come to the front with offering plates, and someone prays. But in churches with very healthy giving relative to their demographics, something different takes place in the offertory.
It is meaningful. It is engaging. And it makes a difference. Here are five ways I have seen it done well in a number of churches. Here is a brief video clip of the offertory time during a worship service at Brentwood. How does your church carry out the weekly offertory? What can you share to help our churches be more effective during this time of worship? Thank you Thom! That is one of the best examples I have ever seen of an offertory. Tell your pastor thank you too. Thank you for your blog.
It is a blessing to read. The Offertory is a special time for our church. I spend significant time planning the Scripture and comments that I will make during this time each week. Our Senior Pastor has entrusted me with this ministry of worship.
During that time, I have learned the value of taking the Offertory time as an important time of worship. Passing the plate too often creates a sense of an obligation to give, rather than motivating by love and free will. Cash offerings are sometimes also a symptom of poor financial planning.
I believe this to be one of Dr. The idea of a key leader teaching about the vision of the church, providing practical examples of how all members can participate is outstanding. We constantly pray for unity among believers; yet, congregants fuss and complain about the pastor who constantly begs for money, as though it were going into his pocket. Sometimes it feels that way because the membership is not engaged.
Propinquity is lacking in the modern church and as a result there is little commitment, financial or otherwise. This list provides an outstanding example of ways to engage the entire membership. When you make a commitment to something you believe in it is easier to keep that commitment. When justice rules a nation, everyone is glad; when injustice rules, everyone groans.

And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

Van De Venter was a painter turned evangelist who wrote this hymn in Reynolds, p. Winfield S. Weeden was the musician who worked with Van De Venter in his evangelistic meetings. In modern hymnals, the entire hymn is usually given in four parts. This hymn can be used year round as a song of response or devotion. It can be sung by the congregation with simple accompaniment to allow for reflection on the seriousness of the commitment embodied in the song.
If the worship leader deems it appropriate for the occasion, an instrumental setting may be used either in place of or prior to the singing as a backdrop for contemplation and silent prayer.
